The Sociedade Vinícola de Palmela (SVP), founded in 1964, began a new strategy in 2021 with the entry into the company's capital of Vasco Guerreiro, a businessman long linked to the sector.
In addition to the CEO, the shareholder structure retains the families of winemaker Filipe Cardoso (Quinta do Piloto) and the now deputy director-general, Luís Simões, from another historic family of Palmela winemakers (Horácio Simões). Winemaking is the responsibility of José Caninhas, with the support of Filipe Cardoso.
After revamping the company's image, Sociedade Vinícola de Palmela also invested in rebranding its brands in order to reposition the entire portfolio in line with the strategy of producing top quality wines that reflect the terroir of the Setúbal Peninsula.
"We believe that we are capable of conquering a place of reference, in the national market and beyond, and offering superior quality, both in terms of muscatels and in whites and reds with a strong profile and well marked by the terroir that distinguishes us so much," says Vasco Guerreiro, CEO and majority shareholder of SVP.
Sociedade Vinícola de Palmela was voted the "Generous Wine Company of 2022" by the Grandes Escolhas Awards and five of the house's wines were also singled out for their quality, placing them among "The Best of Portugal".
